Greek salad
Today at Elena's we want to share a recipe for an authentic Greek salad - "Horiatiki" in Greek. Greek salad can be served as a main course with some Greek pita bread, or as a side dish, and goes perfectly with any meal, such as moussaka or pastitsio .
No dinner is complete without a Greek salad!
Preparation time: 10 min
Portions: 4 people
Ingredients:
- 350g cherry tomatoes
- ½ cucumber
- ½ onion
- 1 tablespoon Mix for Greek salad
- 1 green pepper
- 2 tablespoons vinegar or balsamic vinegar
- a handful of Greek olives
- 200g Feta cheese "Dodoni"
- 8 tablespoons Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 3-4 rusk / paximadi (optional)
Preparation
Prepare your Greek salad in minutes with these simple steps:
- Thoroughly wash all the vegetables and start by cutting them into pieces.
-
Chop the cherry tomatoes in half and put them in a bowl.
Tip: If you want to use rusk/paximadi, start by adding these to the bowl.
- Cut the cucumber into half moons and thinly slice the onions. Add them to the bowl.
- Thinly slice the green pepper and add to the bowl.
- Now add your Greek Salad Mix and the vinegar. Then stir it all together.
Tip: Instead of vinegar, you can use balsamic if you want to add some sweetness to the salad.
- Finally, place the Feta cheese on top (either as a whole piece or break it into cubes), and sprinkle your olives and olive oil on top.
Serve your fresh Greek salad with Greek pita bread and a glass of cold Mythos beer!
