The grapes used for the production of Greek red wine come from several different regions in Greece. The Greek island of Crete in particular is known for its wine production, but in fact it is primarily white wine that is produced in Greece, and only about a third of the Greek grapes become red wine. What makes Greek red wine extra special is that it is not mass-produced, and you can look forward to trying Greek red wine produced, among other things, from the grape varieties syrah, merlot and carbernet when you choose red wine from the range at Elenas.

What characterizes red wine from Greece?

No two Greek red wines are exactly the same, but overall it can be said that Greek red wine is characterized by the fact that most of the grape varieties used are native varieties, which are therefore originally found on Greek soil rather than being imported to Greece from further afield. This strengthens the authenticity of Greek red wine, and in addition to the more common grape varieties that are also grown elsewhere in the world, Greece can therefore offer red wine produced from more playful grape varieties that must be labeled as typically Greek.

This means that you can really get a taste when you choose Greek red wine, and that the wines may well help to divide the waters. For wine enthusiasts, however, it can be difficult to keep the curious taste buds at bay, and this means that you will probably get to know both new favorites and more one-off pleasures when you try your hand at our Greek red wines, which can really contribute to , that you will expand your horizons considerably when it comes to the Greek wine landscape.
