The original Tsipouro or Raki, as it is popularly called in Crete, actually originates in Turkey, albeit in a slightly different version than the typical Greek Raki. The original Tsipouro, as it is also known in Turkey, has added anise, but it should not be confused with the well-known Greek Ouzo.
Serve cold in a shot glass after a meal. It actually helps with digestion and is at the same time a pleasant end to a good dinner.
