The vast majority of people who have visited Crete have also become familiar with the traditional Cretan Raki or Tsikoudia as it is actually called. Although Raki actually originates from Turkey, the Cretans have adopted it as their own. Likes to drink it himself both with and after a good meal and equally likes to share it with friends and acquaintances.
Some (especially tourists) hate it while others love it, but one thing is for sure - Raki connects people and that's what Cretans want. Raki is far more widespread in Crete than our Danish schnapps and it is made in all shades.
